Aging in Place
Safe, practical ways to stay home longer, with the right support built around your loved one.
You know the moment. It is 2 a.m. again, or it is the third missed appointment this month, or it is the day you finally say out loud, “I can’t do this anymore.” Maybe your own health is slipping. Maybe you hired help and it fell apart. Maybe you live three states away and every phone call brings a new problem.
I have been a caregiver for my own mother for eleven years, and I facilitate a caregiver support group, so I am not here to judge you. I am here to help you build a plan that actually works, coordinate the care around it, and stay in your corner so you are not the only one holding it all together.
Home care works, when someone coordinates it. That is what I do. I assess the needs, line up and vet the right help, and keep the whole plan moving, so you can go back to being a daughter or a son instead of a case manager. I work with families in person across western Kentucky and southern Indiana, and by phone and video anywhere in the country.
Every family I work with says a version of the same thing. “How do I let a stranger into my mother’s house?” “The last agency kept sending someone new.” “I hired someone privately, and now I am worried about the taxes, the liability, and what happens when they call in sick.”
That worry is exactly where I earn my keep. I take the vetting and the coordination off your plate. I know the local agencies and the independent caregivers, I know the right questions to ask, and I watch for the red flags you would not think to look for. Agencies cost more and rotate staff. Private hires can leave you exposed. I help you find the arrangement that actually fits your family, and I stay involved so it keeps working.
Worried about a fall when no one is there? A medical alert system with fall detection is often the simplest first step to keeping your loved one safe at home. It is one of the tools I help families choose and set up.
